Virginia’s 2020 football class was ranked 51st in the Nation and 9th in the ACC by 247 sports. The Hoos have 14 people committed in the class. We are going to take a look at who 247 ranked the highest.
Andrew Gentry is a 6’8, 310 pound offensive tackle from Colorado. He is UVA highest ranked recruit coming as the #62 ranked recruit overall, #6 for his position and #1 in the state of Colorado. The Hoos beat Alabama, Notre Dame, Michigan, and many others for Gentry.
He will get playing time right away as the Hoos badly needed help on the offensive line this past season. 247 grades on scale of 1.000 being perfect and Gentry scored a .9705, which if 247 gave current Redskin Morgan Moses a 9597 just to give you some perspective.
Brandon Williams is a 6’3, 220 pound Outside linebacker from New Orleans. He is a 4 star recruit, ranked #25 at his position. Williams beat teams like Florida, Boston College, and Arkansas for Williams. He scored an .8929 from 247 sports. Brandon could definitely see some playing time in the fall.
Jonathan Horton, is the second recruit the Hoos grabbed out of the state of Louisiana. Horton is a 6’5, 215 pound defensive end. He is also a 4 star recruit that is ranked #17 at his position.
Elijah is UVA’s highest graded 3 star recruit by 247, receiving a grade of .8776. At 6’2, 193 pounds he will come in as a safety. Elijah is one of only two recruits the Hoos have from the state of Virginia. The Hoos beat Penn State, Duke, Boston College, and many others for Elijah.
Donovan Johnson is our third and final recruit from Louisiana. The three are ranked by 247 sports, as three of our five best prospects. Johnson is a 6’2, 180 pound safety. His grade from 247 was a .8647. The Hoos beat out Arizona, Baylor, and Georgia Tech to name a few for Johnson.
